Finished Wedding Guest Book & Banner

Hello my long lost friends (LOL),

I was able to spend a few hours on Saturday down in the scrap cave and I'm proud to say that it's done!! I did have an unfortunate incident with the hot glue gun and my thumb still hurts!! Here are some photos

I added the ribbon and some roped ribbon along the edges to tie in with that "beachy" feel. I really, really LOVE how this turned out. Once that was finished, I moved on to the banner that the bride requested. It didn't turn out quite the way I wanted, because for 3 weeks Michael's hasn't had the paper I needed. I improvised, but I'm not quite satisfied. (I did however sign up for the new Rewards program when I was there on Saturday!!) Please excuse my messy basement!

That's all for now. Check back soon for some more projects.

My Apologies - M.I.A

Good Evening Everyone,

I wanted to apologize for being absent from the blogging scene. Last week I had another colonoscopy to assess how much of my large intestines were inflamed. If you've ever had one you know how much of an ordeal the whole prep and procedure can be. I haven't crafted in over a week and a half and my list of projects is piling up.

I plan on spending this Saturday catching up. Thank you for being patient with me while I try to find a way to bring my ulcerative colitis under control and into a long lasting remission.

Amber's Craft and Stuff Challenge #14 - Vacation, All I Ever Wanted

Good Morning Bloggers,

Today is the start of another challenge over at Amber's Crafts and Stuff. This week's theme is Vacation, All I Ever Wanted. We are to make something regarding going on vacation. It's that time of year when the kids are getting out of school (although here in Philly, they have until the 21st due to missed days this past winter), hitting the pools, and going to the beach.

Here in Philly everyone always talks about going down to the shore or "Down the Shore". Everyone packs up and heads across the Delaware River into New Jersey to take in the wonderful beaches. My family isn't actually the beach-going type. They would rather hang out on the boardwalk and be active. We actually go beach camping every year down in Wildwood. So in honor of NJ Beaches, here's my layout:

I plan on using the space above the title for journaling. Here are the details:
12x12 sheet is from DCVW Tahiti Beach Stack (which I scored for 6.99 at Ms on clearance)
Photo Mats are from the same stack, except the 4.5 x 6.5 stack (which I got for 4.99)
No Swimming cut is from H20 solutions cartridge
Title is cut using Don Juan

Thanks for dropping in and checking out my project. Head on over to Amber's blog to check out what projects the rest of the design team has done. Don't forget to enter your project while you are there.

Meet Me on Monday #48

It's that time again, another Meet Me on Monday. Here are this week's questions:

1.  What is your favorite yogurt flavor?
I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to yogurt. I prefer strawberry or vanilla with granola. I wish I ate more yogurt, but I have to be craving it to eat it.
2.  Ankle or knee socks? and on the same theme, white socks or coloured??
Ankle (low cut) socks. I can't stand for my socks to be sticking out of my shoes. For work, I usually tend to skip the knee highs if the shoes I'm wearing will let me get away with it. Nothing worse than sitting at your desk and your hose falling down.
3.  How is the weather right now?
It's a very comfortable 69 degrees, but it will be going up to 77 degrees.
4.  Are you a fast typer?
Pretty fast, only when I'm typing from memory. If I have to type from a document then not so much because my mind and fingers don't connect very well that way.
5.  Red or White Wine?
Well if I have to drink wine, I prefer white. With that being said, pass the vodka!!

Head on over to Never Growing Old and link up your own answers. Can't wait to "meet" you all.

4000 page views

Holy bologna, today my blog reached 4000 blog views. I know that's probably not a significant number, but it continues to amaze me that people are actually visiting and following my blog.

When I started on this journey, I wasn't sure where I wanted to go. All I knew was I had been inspired by many of you. There are so many talented bloggers out there and each of you have your own strengths. Sometimes I wonder how in the world people think my projects even compare or why many of you repeatedly visit my little blog. Thank you for your support and encouragement.

I'm hoping to get a couple things finished this weekend. I'm visiting my BFF in Harrisburg and we plan to do some scrapping. I think I'm going to try to finish the wedding guest book and banner. I really need to organize and print some pictures.

I may try my hand at a video sometime in the future. I'm scared I will stumble over my words and make a complete fool of myself. What should my first subject or project be?? I don't know, maybe it will come to me in a dream. Lol

Well the game is coming back on. Gotta run...GO MAVS!!!!

Meet Me on Monday

It's time for another Meet Me on Monday

Questions:
1.  What is was the last piece of candy that you ate?
I had two stray Reese's Pieces last night as I was cleaning up the dining room. They "fell" out of the box in which they were in and I couldn't leave them on the table. :0)
2.  Do you "read" in the bathroom?
Sadly, yes. I won't go into details, but I usually have something in my hands whether it by the mail, a magazine, note cards, etc. Sometimes, I think the people in my house purposely go into the bathroom to read.
3.  I can't stand when someone _________?
Do I have to pick only one thing? Okay...I can't stand when someone can't plan accordingly. I'm not a very spontaneous person. I know what I'm going to be doing on the weekend before the weekend ever approaches. So imagine how frustrating it is for me when one moment you say you are going to do A, then suddenly you change your mind and do B. But then after some time to think about it you realize that A was the better option. Yeah, can't stand it!
4.  Do you do daily, weekly or monthly grocery shopping?
Weekly. I've tried the monthly thing, but we were wasting money. Things were getting thrown out because they weren't being eaten. Sometimes I still end up going to the store mid-week because I forgot that one item that I need. Between you and me, I hate grocery shopping. It's right up there on the list with cooking. :o)

Thanks for dropping by, head on over to Never Growing Old and enter your own Meet Me on Monday link. I'd love to "get" to know you more.

Wedding Guest Book

So one of my good friends is getting married next month and I've been busy working on different projects for her. She wasn't finding a guest book that met her needs or fit her colors, so she asked me to help her out.

I knew I wanted to do something with chipboard to make a sturdy book base, but I wasn't able to find anything that met my needs. So I wandered over to the wood section of A.C. Moore and found this really thin wood rectangle:

Step 1: I used a sanding block to make sure all the edges were smooth before painting one side in the bride's color, turquoise.

Step 2: once the paint was dry (I waited a few days to make sure it was really dry), I flipped the board over and applied Mod
Podge all over the board paying close attention to the edges. I then applied this gold paisley paper. I let the edges hang over and used a craft knife to trim away the excess once the Mod Podge was dry.

Step 3: I took a drill and carefully drilled two holes through one side of the boards. I inserted an eyelet into each hole, then used O-rings to secure the two boards together.

I still need to print the internal pages. Which will basically be white cardstock printed from my computer with lines for the guests to sign. I'll post some more pictures once I have the cover finished and the pages inserted.

Card feature - New Arrivals

I'm back with my second post of the day. Told you I was going to get a lot of things done today. So while I'm waiting on the Mod Podge to dry on another project, I'll share another card with you.

Details:
I used the Card 2 feature on the new arrivals cartridge. This gives you a window card with a scalloped edge. I cut it twice because I wanted the scallops to have a patterned edge. Since I used scraps this was cut at 4.5 inches.
For the baby, I had to play around a bit. I finally settled on a cut that was 2.25 inches on the base and layer.
I inked all my edges using my brown ink it up inkpad. (Mary from CardzTV has me hooked)

I will be entering this card inti the following challenges:

More than favors - use the new arrival cart
Cricut Cardz - use the card feature of any cart

Thanks for dropping by...stay tuned I'm planning on giving away some blog candy soon!!

Manly Card

Good afternoon bloggers,

Well it actually happened. Miss A is away for the weekend and the man-friend is out on an all day excursion. That means I have the house to myself and am able to get some much needed crafting done. I was even able to sleep in...double kudos!!

I wanted to make a card that would fit into a couple of challenges. I plan on listing this project here:

Scrapalicious - Card for a Man
Crazy About CricutMan/Boy theme. Use the word man/boy, or use a man/boy themed cut in your project.
Creative Cutter Room - Father's Day
Birthday Sundaes - Manly Birthday

Details:

  • Standard A2 sized card using scraps from my stash
  • 4 x 5.25 Mat - pattern paper from DCWV Guy Stack
  • Sentiment is also from stack and has been matted on some scrap paper
  • Trophy is cut is from Graphically Speaking and embossed using te Swiss dots folder for some texture
  • I also used some mini brads that I got from Oriental Trading, I think they were the "fall" set

I figured since it doesn't actually say Happy Father's Day or Happy Birthday, it could qualify for both. Thanks for stopping by, I should have another post later in today with another project and some more challenges.

What's on Your Desk

Good Evening my crafty pals,

So everyone is posting pictures of their desk because Creations with Christina asked them to. At first I was like there is no way I'm going to post my desk!! But as I looked over everyone's photos, I realized that we all have similar spaces. So here goes...my desk in all it's glorified mess...

I'll start with a wide angle view because my "desk" includes the entire space around me!! As you can see I've been making quite a mess. I think it's time to get a second table.

As you can see I've been browsing the pages of the latest Scrapbooks Etc magazine. Geez, I really need to clean up!!

Well if you're brave, grab your camera and snap a picture. Just remember, no cleaning first!!

Stay crafty and messy!!

Amber's Craft and Stuff Challenge #12 - Teen Celebration

Good Morning Bloggers,

So, I feel like I've been M.I.A. I thought I posted an entry over the weekend about my wonderful time visiting the extended family down in WV, but I guess I must have dreamed that part. I'll post that this evening when I have more time.

This week's challenge over at Amber's Crafts and Stuff is all about Teens. To honor and celebrate the teens in our lives. Well, as you know, I don't actually have any children. My younger cousins are both in the twenties and Miss A is only 10. So as I thought about what I could possibly do (ok, I have to admit, I actually did a project for another week so this was a pre-made layout), I ended up choosing to showcase a layout I did for my little sister. There is actually a HUGE age difference between my younger sister and myself. I was just shy of my 16th birthday when she was born and she's basically grown up as an only child. She was actually born the day after I returned to WV from visiting my mother for Christmas break. I knew it...and I was woken up by a phone call from my super proud stepfather announcing the birth of his clone. (LOL) Here's the layout that I did with the letter and one of the pictures that they sent to me afterwards.

Some days I still can't believe that she's already 14 years old. It seems like only yesterday she was learning to stand and walk. I still call her my "munchkin" and against my wishes she still calls me her "sissy", but I wouldn't have it any other way. Here's a more recent picture of my sister.

To join in on this challenge, head over to Amber's blog and enter your project about your favorite teen!
