Meet Me on Monday #59

Happy Monday,

I hope everyone had recovered from the Thanksgiving holiday and the Black Friday madness. I had a wonderful time in Virginia Beach with my family and friends. The weather was beautiful!! It's time for another edition of Meet Me on Monday.

Questions:

1.  I really need to clean my _________?
Floors. I have hardwood floors and they are in dire need of a good scrubbing. I'm currently sitting on the couch and the sun is coming in and I can see all the dust.

2.  What food makes you think of Christmas?
Cookies. I remember when I was growing up that we ALWAYS made Christmas cookies for the holidays.

3.  If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
I guess I could stay at 30. I haven't really hit a point in my life that has been so gracious and glorious that I want time to stop.

4.  What was your first paying job?
Babysitting. I started babysitting for my neighbors around the age of 11 or 12.

5.  Have you read the Twilight series?
I have. The guy-friend's mother suggested it, so I borrowed them from her. They were alright. I haven't seen the latest movie. The clones went without me, as usual.

Decorate to Celebrate: Guest Designer

I'm so excited to be a guest designer this week at Decorate to Celebrate. They are celebrating Rhonda's and Amy's Birthdays ALL MONTH LONG (so you'll have ALL month to enter your projects!!)...  Also for THIS month (and this month ONLY), they'll be opening up the challenge to ANY project (yes, this means you can enter a card or a layout too!!)...  Because of this, they are LIMITING the number of entries to a MAXIMUM of THREE -- you can enter up to THREE projects this month for your chance at the Birthday Presents!!  A little birdie told me that there would be one of Rhonda's minis, one of Amy's explosion boxes, and several other FUN prizes thrown into the mix!!  So get working on those projects for YOUR chance to WIN!!

For Challenge #12, they are asking you to create any project to be used as a party decoration (or party supply) for a SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY!!  Let's celebrate EVERYTHING WONDERFUL ABOUT GETTING OLDER (tee hee) with your table decorations, party banners, pennants, yard signs, cupcakes, party favors and more!!

So on to my project. I decided since this is the day before Turkey day, which at my family's house usually involves lots of football, I would do a football inspired project. This would be great for a load of parties. I'm thinking Super Bowl, Tailgating, birthdays, etc. I've listed these items in my Etsy shop.

Meet Me on Monday #58

Blogging  is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read  and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is  this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want  to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great  way for all of us to "meet" each other!

Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you  questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we  can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

Questions:

1.  I wish I had more time to _________?
Be creative. There are so many things that I want to do and I just never seem to have enough time to do anything. Maybe when I take vacation at the end of the year, I can try to get something done.
2.  What is your favorite kind of soup?
Potato soup is DA BOMB! I'm not really a big soup fan, but I tried this soup from Corner Bakery and fell in love.
3.  Where will you eat Thanksgiving dinner?
In Cape Charles, VA with my stepdad's family.
4.  What is your favorite time of day?
Breakfast time. I love breakfast foods. I would eat it all day if I could. Plus I like the way everything feels when you first get up in the morning.
5.  Did you start Christmas shopping yet?
Absolutely not. I think the holidays have gotten to commercialized. Christmas shouldn't be about the presents or the decorations. My family has actually decided to not exchange gifts this year, so it's a nice turn of events. We will spend the entire month spreading Christmas cheer to those we love and cherish.

It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas

So today I have a different type of project for you. I decided to step away from my paper and make a Christmas wreath. I've been seeing a lot of really inspiring stuff on pinterest. This wreath is a little different because it's made with yarn. I've never been a big fan of the pine wreaths.

Here's my attempt at a yarn wreath:

Here's the original:

So what do you think? If you haven't yet gotten addicted to Pinterest and would like an invitation, just leave me a comment with your email address and I'll send you one. You can browse the site without one, but trust me you'll be making your own boards and liking stuff!

Well I'm heading down to the scrap cave to finish my project for my guest design spot!! I hope you stop back on Wednesday to check it out.

WE ARE ... MARSHALL

WE REMEMBER!

WE ARE...MARSHALL!!

Good Morning,
Just a quick check-in with all of my blogger friends. If you've read my profile, you may or may not have noticed that I am a proud graduate of Marshall University. We are a school tucked away in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains along the mighty Ohio River. While many may have never heard of our school until the movie starring Matthew McConaughey appeared in box offices (I was actually on campus while they were filming), we in Huntington (and beyond) hold today as one of saddest days in school history.

At 7:35 pm on November 14, 1970, an aircraft crashed into a hill just short of the Tri-State Airport, killing all 75 people on board. The plane was carrying 37 members of the Marshall University Thundering Herd football team, eight members of the coaching staff, 25 boosters, four flight crew members and one employee of the charter company. The team was returning home after a 17–14 loss to the East Carolina Pirates at Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, North CarolinaThe impact of the crash on Huntington went far beyond the Marshall campus. Because it was the Herd's only chartered flight of the season, many boosters and prominent citizens were on the plane, including a city councilman, a state legislator and four physicians. Seventy children lost at least one parent in the crash, with 18 of them left orphaned.

This evening at exactly 7:35pm, the memorial fountain will be shut off for the season. It's a very moving ceremony and I'm sad that I won't be able to be there. So for everyone who lost their life, lost a family member, a friend, a coworker, today we remember.

For those of you looking for another challenge blog to participate in, you HAVE to check out Decorate to Celebrate. Normally they are all about the decorations for your beloved celebrations, but this month they are letting you enter cards (if you so choose). Here are the rules for this month (normally the challenges are weekly, and there are usually less than 15-20 entries!!)

And don't forgot that I'll be guest designing for them on Nov 23rd., so I hope you all stop in at their blog and get caught up in the festivities!!

In case you missed it...  This month we are CELEBRATING Rhonda's and Amy's Birthdays ALL MONTH LONG (so you'll have ALL month to enter your projects!!)...  Also for THIS month (and this month ONLY), we'll be opening up the challenge to ANY project (yes, this means you can enter a card or a layout too!!)...  Because of this, we are LIMITING the number of entries to a MAXIMUM of THREE -- you can enter up to THREE projects this month for your chance at the Birthday Presents!!  A little birdie told me that there would be one of Rhonda's minis, one of Amy's explosion boxes, and several other FUN prizes thrown into the mix!!  So get working on those projects for YOUR chance to WIN!!

Pattern Paper Phobia (PPP)

Hello my name Natasha and I'm a Pattern Paper Phobic. ROTFL

Okay, so not really but I've realized over the last few months that I have the hardest time putting pattern papers together. I love the way they look on other people's projects but I will sit for hours looking at all my pretty paper and freak out when I try to put them together. Does anyone else feel this way? How did you overcome your phobia? Is there a PPP support group?

I see some of the most amazing cards, minis, and other projects that utilize these papers fabulously. I look at my projects and see a lot of plain, monotone items. Not that I think my projects are bad, I just wish I could allow myself the creative freedom to put the papers together. ::SIGH::

Ok, enough of my rant. What crafty projects are you working on this week? I'll be back later in the week with the finished baby book for a coworker.

Stay crafty.

Meet Me on Monday #56

Good Morning Bloggy Friends,

Happy Monday. It's time again for another Meet Me on Monday over at Never Growing Old

Questions:

1.  Are you excited for the holidays or are you dreading them?
I'm dreading the holidays. It's become so commercialized that it really doesn't even feel like Christmas anymore. I miss the days when I would bake cookies with my mom, light the advent wreath each Sunday, and truly celebrate the reason for the season. My family has decided to not do gifts this year and I couldn't be happier.

2.  Do you hit the snooze button or get right up?
I'm a snoozer. Some days you just need those extra minutes.

3.  Do you still have your tonsils?
I do. I really shouldn't though, as a child I would get strep throat every Easter and every October. They really should have taken them out.

4.  What was the last piece of candy that you ate?
A tootsie roll pop. It wasn't as good as I remember them being.

5.  Do you shop at thrift stores?
Not really. In my slightly compulsive habits, I hate having to sort through clothes racks and bins. I've tried. I really have. Add on the fact that I absolutely hate to go shopping and stores like that can be a real nightmare for me.

Thanks for stopping in and taking a moment to get to know me a little better. I will have some crafty goodness for you later in the week!

Stay Crafty

Flea Market

So I braved the cold weather and did a flea market today. Big bust!! I didn't sell anything until the end. A bike, which some actually wanted me to sell for like $10. Um, it's brand new and a $200 Diamondback BMX, don't think so. I also sold my 2 altered notebooks for $10. These two little girls wanted them so badly, so I took $1 off each.

Guess next time, I'll stick with my gut and do a craft show. Sigh. Since I've gotten home, I've been trying to warm up from the cold. Catching up on my DVRd shows. No crafting today.

What are you up to today my crafty friends?
