Scrappy Mom Terrific Tuesday Challenge

Here's my entry for the Scrappy Mom's Terrific Tuesday Challenge from last week. Here is the link to their post.

The challenge was to use the Sweethearts cartridge. I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos lately and have seen everyone making these treat bags. I got the bags and candy from The Dollar Tree. Yup that's right, those cute little heart ziplock bags were only $1 for 40.

I cut the pink and red toppers at 5 by 3 3/4. Folded in half at 2 1/2 inch. I cut the Scalloped Heart at 1 3/4 inch with the Blackout feature on. At this size the holes didn't cut out perfectly, so I made a last minute substitution. I used my bold Galaxy Marker for the white dots in the pink hearts and my pink Zig pen for the white hearts. The sentiment is a stamp from the dollar bin at Micheal's. Total cost for the project, $7. I made 32 bags.

Issues with Uploading Photos (iPhone)

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to pass on some information I found out yesterday. So I've been having issues uploading pictures to Facebook through my iPhone. I mean what is worse than trying to share something with people and it doesn't work. You know the error "Photo cannot be uploaded at this time. Do you want to Save?"

Does this sound familiar? Are you getting ready to throw your phone across the room? So here's the solution:

On your iPhone/iPod/etc go to: Settings > General > Location Services. Make sure location services are on. Then also make sure the facebook location services are on.

That's it. That's all you have to do. All those over solutions about uninstalling and reinstalling...FORGET ABOUT IT!! Hehehe.

I'll be back this weekend with a TON of projects. Just haven't had time to get things organized with the 15 inches of snow we received, snow days, and people with cabin fever.

Coral & Black Wedding Album

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share the first couple of layouts that I've completed for the man-friend's BFF's wedding. They've been friends for almost 26 years!! He is going to be the best man at the wedding which is this April. When the friend announce the engagement, I said that making a wedding album would be an awesome gift for them. I was shh'd and told that I was crazy for thinking to hand make something for them.

About 3 weeks ago, I was asked to make them an album. Oh how I love that man of mine. I know the color on these pages looks red, but I promise you that it's more of a coral in person. I blame the bad lighting in my office. So here is what I've completed so far:

First Page:

Bridal Shower page:

I found these layouts over at Scrapbooks Etc.. I needed a little inspiration and found tons of ideas within the few pages of sketches that I viewed. I hope that you enjoy these layouts. I will try to post more as I get them done. I'm on a tight deadline for a procrastinator.

Oriental Trading Haul

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share with you some of the things that I got from Oriental Trading last week. Now I know what you are thinking, "Isn't that the novelty toy company?". Well you would be correct. However, a couple months ago I was looking for the calendar that I used for my man-friend's mother's Christmas gift and I stumbled upon their extensive scrapbook section. If you want to check them out, here is the link.

Anyway, on to what I got:

Starting in the top left corner is a pack of Groisgrain Ribbon, another pack of "winter" ribbon, a box of spring embellishments, clear journaling blocks, white galaxy markers(bold, fine, gel roller), bone folder, heart rhinestones, mini brads.

In a previous order, I was very impressed with the cardstock I bought and it cuts wonderfully in my Cricut. Well have a wonderful night.

Fairy Princess

This week's Tuesday Challenge over at Made by Momo was to make something "Princess". I had a hard time finding something to do for this card. I don't actually own a cartridge (or at least I didn't think I did) that has anything princess on it. I found this ballerina on the Playtime cartridge.

I bought the ribbon a few weeks ago at Michael's on clearance for $0.50. It has little crowns on it if you can't see in the picture. Here's the rest of the details on the card.

Princess was cut at 2 1/2
Polka Dot mat was cut at 4 1/8 by 5 1/8
Pink mat was cut at 4 1/4 by 2 1/2, then punched with a Fiskar's border punch (I finally figured out how to use that thing...not as easy as you would think)

I have to admit, I'm not super happy about how the cuts on this playtime cartridge layer. Maybe I'm the only who thinks it's a little weird. ::Shrugs:: Any who, until next time.

Sweet Shop - Challenge Me Monday #43

Afternoon Bloggies,

This week's challenge over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog, the challenge was to incorporate something sweet on your project (i.e. ice cream, candy, cake etc.). I'm on the tail end of a cold right now and I feel awful. So I took the day off and since I was home, I figured why not spend some time in the craftroom.

Here's what I came up with for the challenge:

The card is a standard A2 size.
The blue mat is cut at 4 1/4 by 5 1/4. I punched the bottom edge with a Fiskar's border punch.
The striped mat is cut at 4 1/8 by 5 1/8. It's from a mat stack that I bought YEARS ago. So I have no clue who it's by.
The cupcake is from Create-A-Critter and cut at 3 1/3 inches. I used the shadow feature with each of the layers.
The stamp is from a set a bought on Michael's on clearance.

I've been making a lot of stuff that was pink, purple, etc. So I wanted to make a card that was more for a boy. Hope you enjoy.

New Cartridges and A Special Letter

My Cricut obsession over the past year has taken off exponentially. I purchased my Baby Bug from HSN in November of 2009. I don't think I actually used it until the summer of 2010. My bundle came with two cartridges (George and Designer's Calendar). In the few final months of 2010, that total was 12. I upgraded to the Expression in December of 2010. Well today I received three more in the mail. LOL! These were the ones that I received:

* Don Juan
* Mini Monograms
* New Arrivals

I'm excited to get to use them. That won't be tonight though, I feel really sick. I also got a special letter in the mail today. I heard about Operation Write Home (OWH) from another blogger. I went to their website, did a bit of research, and immediately knew that I had to help out. I grew up in the military. My stepfather served in Iraq in 2004. We kept in touch via email sporadically, so I understand the need for paper communication.

Luckily, I work for a wonderful company and we are always looking for ways to help the community. I'm organizing a "Card Making Night" for the staff to get together and make cards for the men and women in the service. My special letter contained a personalized stamp to support OWH. I'm hoping to get the event planned for early summer.

So enough of my rambling. Have a great night and hopefully I start feeling better so that I can get into my craftroom.

Happy Saturday

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday. It's soooooo cold here in Philadelphia. I've just finished following 2 blog hops and I'm tired. There were so many good ideas and very talented ladies participating today. I was able to do a little cleaning and organizing in my craft room. While I was there, Miss A and I made a card for a birthday party that she's going to tonight. Here's a picture:

She picked out everything: the colors, the images, the background paper. All I did was show her how to use the Cricut Expression and watch as she was applying the glue. I also adhered everything down (don't want little hands playing with my ATG!!). I'd say for her first attempt, she made a VERY pretty card. I may have an apprentice in the making!

I also wanted to share a new site that a friend showed me (ATTN: If you are easily persuaded into buying things, please do NOT follow the link). So this site is basically a Groupon for scrapbookers!! Are you ready? You sure? Scrapbook Steals has an AMAZING offer today. Bo Bunny It's My Party Collection for $9.99. Go check them out and make it a favorite on your bookmarks bar. You'll want to go everyday!!

FCCB Challenge #42 - Winter Warmies

This week's challenge over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog was to create something using some type of winter clothing or accessory (i.e.: mitten, sweater, hat etc.) I have to admit, I'm ready for spring. My birthday is in April and spring has always been my favorite time of the year.

I didn't want to use blue in this card, but ended up using it anyway. In hindsight, I would have used the Cuttlebug to emboss the blue background before I put in on the card. I'll keep that in mind for when I remake the card. So, without further delay...

This is a 5x5 card. I used a corner rounder to round the edges. I used the Jolly Holidays cartridge to cut the mittens. I added a little sparkle with Stickles. I used a Martha Stewart punch the edges. The sentiment is from a set I purchased on clearance at Michael's. I hope you like the card.

Scrappy Mom Terrific Tuesday Challenge

I FINALLY made it into my craft room. After a bought of crafter's block, I'm ready to get going again. This is for the very first Terrific Tuesday challenge over at Scrappy Moms Stamps.

The challenge was to use the Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge. If you don't own Birthday Bash, you were to use something similar. I don't own it, so I used Create-A-Critter. Here's what I came up with:

I'll have to admit, I cut the hat a little backwards. The image has the hat and a pinwheel on it. So I used the "Fit to Page" button, which cut the image at 8 inches. The hat ended up being about 3.5 inches. I added a little bling with Stickles. The sentiment is from a stamp set that I bought at Michael's on clearance this past weekend. They have a lot of stamps marked down to below $5.

This card will be for a very special person. One of my besties has a daughter with Down Syndrome. She'll be 9 in a few weeks and of course her favorite color is purple. I hope she likes it.

Crafter's Block

Hello everyone,

I have to admit, I didn't get anything done in my craft room over the weekend. I had some sort of crafter's block. I added a few touches to a couple of projects, but didn't really complete anything. I blame the cold that I'm catching and a super hyper 10 yr old that was "rocking out" in her room.

So instead of a super new project, I'm going to share the calendar that I gave my man-friend's mother for Christmas. I wanted to give her something special that included ALL of her family in it. Here are the snapshots for January, February, and March.

I believe all of the cuts in these images are from the Designer's Calendar Cricut cartridge. That background paper is from a stack by Karen Foster called the "Biggie Bundle - Throughout the Year #3". I got it at Michael's for a steal!! The calendar itself is from Oriental Trading Company. Surprisingly, it's a very sturdy calendar and worth every bit of the 9.99 that I paid for it. Here is the link to it if you want to check it out. The only thing that I've added to these pages were some Jolee's Gold Coins for March.

Stayed tuned for the next 3 months: April, May, and June

Some of my Best Friends are Flakes

This week's "Challenge Me Monday" over at  Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog is about "Snowy Delights".   I will also be entering this into Made By Momo's Tuesday Challenge. Her theme is create something that involves "Snow". Living in Philadelphia, I gotten to see quite a bit of snow (last winter we had some where around 72 inches) but nothing like the beautiful snow back in West Virginia.  Here it snows, looks pretty for about an hour. Then the bus, a plow, or a random vehicle comes by and it becomes a gray/black slushy mess.

Anyway, on to my project.  I tried to find a "snowy" tagline that hasn't been used too terribly much. "Some of my best friends are flakes" is quite funny and if I were to send such a card to any of my best friends they wouldn't take too much offense to it.

This is a standard A2 size card (4 1/4 x 5 1/2).  I have no idea where this paper is from.  A long time ago I purchased a set of paper from ABC Distributing.  It hasn't been the easiest paper to use up and I don't particularly care for it.  I printed the sentiment from my computer.  I should have used some sort of block for it and maybe put it in the lower corner, but I can't complain it's still a cute card. The snowflake is from the Going Places Cricut cartridge. Until next time....
