Challenge - Pattern Paper

Good Morning Bloggy friends,

How are ya? I know this year has already been going by fast, but I can't wait for fall. This heat and humidity is why I don't live in the Southeast. It's not so much the heat anyway. I dislike humidity, nothing about it agrees with me.

This week over at Amber's Crafts and Stuff, the challenge is to use patterned paper. That's it!! Let your mind go free. As a side note, this would be a great challenge to use up some of your scraps.

My project this week showcases the pampered princess in my mother's house. Bienchen (pronounced bean-chin), is actually my sister's Maltese. She's been in our family for about 12 years now. These photos were taken at Christmas one year. Normally she is a very calm dog, but give her that squirrel toy (which we had to take the squeaker out) and she goes wild!!

The main photo is matted MySpace style. I don't remember where the patterned paper is from or who it is by. The letters are from a huge alpha stack I bought at A.C. Moore many moons ago. They are just cardstock without adhesive. The paw prints are stickers from Sandy Lion.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to jump over to Amber's blog to check out the rest of the design team inspiration and enter your own project.

p.s. I'm going to enter this into Alex's weekly Link Up.

I'm Sad

Good Evening Bloggy Friends,

I'm sad. It's been weeks since I've even tried to do anything crafty. It's not that I don't want to, because I really do. It's just that I feel that I've been forced to live upstairs and abandon my scrap cave. As you are well aware, my crafty space is done in my basement. I started in my dining room, but I'm the type of person who needs solitude to scrap and since it's right in the middle of the house, it was a no-go. Then I moved upstairs, I won't even go into detail about the horrible choice that was. Alas, I ended up in the basement. Perfect place to craft away. Until...my ulcerative colitis decided it wanted to take center stage and flare up. I took two courses of Prednisone from February to May and as long as I am on them, all is well. As soon as I come off. Disaster.

So you probably want to know what all of this has to do with my crafting, well without it being TMI, let's just say the only bathroom in my house is on the second floor. I've been thinking about moving everything again, but I've gotten so cozy down there. This time around, I've decided to not take the medicine and try another approach. I've also decided that I would change my way of eating to a more natural and raw lifestyle. I will be starting another blog to chronicle my ups and downs with ulcerative colitis. They say it only happens in about 1% of Americans. I know 4 people who have it. I want to be able to share all the information I find, good or bad, with anyone who is out there suffering like me.

Even if you or someone you love doesn't have UC, raw foods have been show to help with a host of other ailments. Come join me for the adventure (once I get it up and running).

Stay Crafty (and thanks for letting me get that off my chest)

Amber's Crafts and Stuff Challenge #18 - Embossing

Goooood Morning Bloggers (in my Ty Pennington voice),

This week over at Amber's Crafts and Stuff the challenge is to use some type of embossing. You can do either wet or dry embossing. You can emboss by hand or use a machine like the Cuttlebug or Sizzix. My project this week is a previous project that I completed. I'm in the middle of a flare-up and am pretty darn miserable right now. Thus I haven't been spending any time down in the scrap cave. Here's a look at the invitations that I made:

Details:
All paper is from my stash, can't remember what brand
4.25 x 5 Base
4 x 4.75 Mat embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder
Foot is cut from New Arrivals Cricut Cartridge
Circle and Scallop are cut from Mini Monograms

Thanks for stopping by. Head on over to Amber's blog to check out the other DT entries and to enter your own project.

Sorry I've Been Gone

Hello My Sweet Friends,

I just wanted to apologize for being gone these past few days (okay so it's been over a week). Being a bridesmaid in a wedding takes a lot of time away from the things that you want to do. But now that it is over, I can finally get back to other projects. I will post an entry to FINALLY show you all the wedding album that I did for my friend. I couldn't post it before because I wanted it to be a total surprise. And it was!! She started tearing up when I gave it to her. Anyway, I'll be seeing you around.

4th of July Lazy Day

Happy Independence Day bloggers,

Hope everyone is enjoying their BBQs and time with friends and family. We actually had our celebration yesterday to accommodate the varied work schedules of our guests. Today is more of a lay on the couch and watch the Star Wars: Clone Wars marathon on cartoon network.

While I haven't gotten much done in the scrap cave lately, I did manage to get two looming projects done. First, I finally finished the wedding guest book.

I also finished up the wall art for the man friend's niece.

For this, I used Don Juan for the name cut at 4 inches. I also used Once Upon a Princess for the other cuts. All cut at 3.25 inches. Here are some close ups.

Enjoy your day and stay crafty
